"OLD BULL IN THE BOWERY" (written December 1952)
A mainly fictitious tale written in Mexico City, in French patois, as "Sur le Chemin."
It tells of a meeting between the young Kerouac and Cassady in 1935, and constructs
a relationship between the Duluoz and Pomeray families based on the kinship of
Old Bull Baloon ("Guillaume Bernier-Gaos") -- that he was brother-in-law to Ti-Jean's
grandfather, and to Dean Sr. (Old Bull Baloon family tree)
It also traces the movement of the Kerouac (Duluoz) family from Brittany to Canada
and eventually to the U.S.A.

"BEAT SPOTLIGHT" (written c. 1968)
An incomplete reminiscence of the weekly newspaper, The Spotlight, which was edited and published
by Jack's father Leo in Lowell during the 1920s. Those times are then compared with Jack's own
popularity in the 1950s, after the publication of "On the Road", when he was in the Beat spotlight.
